I know that the Sony one is expensive, but I hate using the camera as a USB drive.

I found one (by google search) which should work as it is PCI express, as long as you don't mind putting the card in the back of your PC (it is an internal card).

Has anyone yet found a express to USB reader/writer (other than the Sony one) that works?

Sorry, but I don't have an answer for you, however...

Could you provide a link to the PCIe card you found?

I might be interested in that.

Brad,

I am not sure how this goes with Chris's sponsor policy. I will e-mail it to you directly.

We're all interested in this too Graeme.

I'm pretty sure Chris wouldn't mind, as we're all around the world!

A link would be appreciated.

Cheers

So am I safe to assume these card readers will allow the full 1920x1080 file to transfer over?

brad...

at this point in time, no one seems to know whether these readers can read the Sony SxS format. it would seem highly unlikely, to me anyway, that they wouldn't, but until it is shown, it's an unknown.

for that matter, one can ask the reverse question, can "standard" 16Gb express34 memory cards be used by the sony EX1?

Ok. thanks.

Amazes me how much we don't know about this camera and it's already hitting the shelves!

Actually it's even more amazing that Sony just isn't giving us clear answers on some of these pressing issues. I for one, can not afford to buy it just to find out if it will do what I hope it can do!

Hopefully some of the early adopters will start giving us more to chew on here soon enough.

I have owned the camera for over three weeks and I'm still waiting on the reader.
No one will know more until we either dare to experiment, or just wait for the Sony reader.

i have the sony reader and am very disappointed that the transfer speed is no faster than 2.3 x

A card in the side of my MBP goes around 5x

I have a cheap usb/ expresscard reader and it doesn't work at all.
