can someone point me to the threads involving using scanned stills in DV 25. I have stills that I need to import in Final cut pro.

What specifically are you looking for? You can import stills into the browser in FCP and drag them into the timeline, much like with video clips.

See the section named "Importing Still Images and Graphics" in your FCP6 User's Manual (Volume I, Part IV, Page 328) for a start.

Yes, it's called scale and position keyframes ;)

Martin,
I think I found what I was looking for after further searching. Basically, wanted to confirm the proper aspect and alternatives to cropping a portrait style image. I want to retain the whole 5 x 7 content, which is almost an exact opposite in terms of 4 x 3 frame size. I'm going to drag it into FC and see what I can do to use the full height while filling in the sides with.....something.
