Todd,
Can you tell me why you got a gl2 and want to get rid of the vx2000. I thought the vx2000 was a little better?

I e-mailed you about trading my PV-DV100's battery charger for the mic. It works with all the same DVC/DVX camcorder batteries.

I already had a GL2, and bought a vx2000. They reason why I went with the GL2 is because it has dv control. Which means it sends a start/stop signal through the firewire port. I shoot only to a firestore device, and without dv control you can't start and stop from the camera, you have to manually press start and stop on the firestore. This isn't really a huge deal but I shoot real estate tours, and I do a lot of starting and stopping so anything helps.
I would agree that the vx is a little better for most situations, the GL2 just happens to suit me better.

Let me know if I can answer anything else.

I just upgraded to a Steadicam Flyer so I dont need this great unit any more. It is in very good condition and comes with all original accessories including the custom bag plus some additional springs. I flew an XL2 on this with no probs. The unit retails for over $3000.

You can view more details here:
http://www.adorama.com/VDHLGTX.html

This is the same unit as the Varicam Flowcam GT, it just has the Hollywood Lite name on it and the instructions are in VHS instead of DVD.
http://varizoom.com/products/stabilizers/vzgt.html

I will sell it for $1750 shipped to a DVinfo member....

Hi,

I'm looking for a 3x Wide Angle Lens to buy for my XL2. I don't have the money to buy it brand new so I'm looking for someone that is parting with theirs and is selling for a decent price.

I'm also looking for a playback and capture deck. I've been using my XL2 for playback and capturing and it's really hurting me thinking about the damage I'm doing to the camera. I'm constantly feeling like I'm shortning the life span of my camera by doing this and it kills me inside. Does anyone have a cheapo little camcorder they want to get rid of for a decent price for capturing purposes or a n actual mini-DV playback deck?

Please e-mail me if you have anything you're selling.

Roger@kolibriartstudio.com

Thank you.

how much you looking to go on the play back camera? I got a little canon and is still under it's extra coverage from GE.

December 20th, 2005, 06:36 PM
Roger,

The going price for the 3x lens on Ebay is 800 dollars. You can pick them up with 'buy it now' usually for $825. Is that what you call 'reasonable'?

Roger Rosales
December 20th, 2005, 06:50 PM
Brian, what's the model number on the play back camera and make me an offer.

Richard, 800-900 sounds reasonable to me. I actually found an ebay auction for a wide angle lens, I'm just waiting for the seller to respond to my question.

Just an updated to answer some questions... This is a real steadicam type device created by the original inventors of the steadicam as I understand it. It includes a padded vest, articulating arm, balanced sled, 5 inch mounted LCD monitor and batteries, battery charger, dovetail plate, VHS instructions as well as some simple tools and extra springs. It also has a nice custom case on rollers with cutout foam. The only thing I recommend in addition is a C-stand to rest it on...

Here is some footage from the same unit...

David,
I am definitely interested in the camera.
Can you tell me what you mostly used it for and how many hours are on the camera? Has it ever been used as a deck? And finally, why are you selling it?

Let me know also what method of payment you take and how you would like to handle a potential transaction. I have friends in that area that might also be willing to pick it up for me.

Thanks!

Yes here it is copied from above:

Condition on the VX2000: The camera is less than a year and a half old. I have owned it since April of this year, the previous owner had it for a year. He also shot only to a firestore (a fs-1) He mainly shot band shows, and this was his 3rd camera, used for backup. This is the reason he sold it to me.

What I have shot with the camera. I have done 5 wedding receptions. I used my GL2 during the ceremony because I feel more at home with the camera, and it has a 20x zoom. I used the vx2000 at the reception for the low light capabilities. I did run tape as well as a Firestore fs-4. So I have used the drums for 5 hours, never as a playback deck. I have also shot 3 house tours with the camera, with no tape, FS-4 only. I would feel safe saying the drums have no more then 10-12 hours on them tops.

And your second part, No it has not been used ever as a deck. A firestore device has always been used. The firestore is a hard drive device that you pull your footage off of, so you never need to use the tape. The only time I used tape was for backup to the firestore.

The camera is in great condition, everything is like new, the lcd screen is firm and tight, all the buttons click and slide like new.

Thanks for the interest, the camera is boxed up and ready to send out. Let me know if I can answer anything else.

This is the one that was showcased on HDVINFO.NET by the boss man Chris Hurd himself. It was the flagship Z1U because it was the FIRST sold in California for sure (possibly America) by DVINFO sponsor EVS in Burbank Ca.

I am a PRODUCER, not a shooter or DP or videographer. What does that mean.....it means it's hardly been touched! Just sat in a pelican 1650 case for most of the year. It works flawlessly! And if you wan't it, it's yours, and just because you are a DVINFO.NET community member, I'll throw in the 4 extra (3-hour each) batteries for free. Original box, paperwork, etc...

Anyhow, call me @ my office in Los Angeles toll free 1-800-972-3688 if you're interested.

Why am I selling it?
Because I bought a $9,000.00 Canon XL-H1. *smile*

The lens is in mint condition and comes with the lens hood, cap and cover. I also have the manual sheets which were scanned and emailed by a nice guy on this forum( Mark Sasaharra)
I bought it here a few months back, but only used it a few times. Most of what I'm doing is run and gun, observational stuff, so I end up using the wa lens most of the time.If I did more planned cinematic stuff, I'd never sell it.It delivers a beautifull image, and if I had lots of money (lol) I'd keep it...A local dp who owns a cinealta played with it and loved it.
Everything works fine and there are no nicks or scratches. The back focus works perfectly.I think I paid $950 plus shipping, and I'll sell it for $900 plus shipping.
If you need pics, or have questions, feel free to contact me.

mmm--hard to pass this by without a correction--Garrett Brown is the inventor of the Steadicam; the gents who started Hollywood Lite used to work at the Steadicam factory back in the day, I can't remember if they were around at the beginning or not.

Doesn't affect the rig itself one way or another. Best of luck with the sale, Ash.

Hi,

I bought a Canon XL H1 from Samy's in Venice last week. I only used it for capturing HD-SDI in order to test our server equipment.

Since we design and manufacture rackmount storage servers, we just needed some real life testing for high speed read/write testing.

Anyway, we are not a video company, so it’s useless for us in the long run.

First $8500 takes. All boxes, all new, with receipt, etc.

I got the camera on July of this year to use as a backup camera for weddings, and since then have only put 2 hours on the heads. The previous owner was using it to shoot his bros car racing competitions, he estimated approx. 22 hours on the heads.
However, the camera was never use as a deck and have used Panasonic brand MiniDV tapes only.

After not using the camera since September, I came to the conclusion that I really didn't need an extra high end camera, since a cheaper low end camera would do just fine for backup purpose, thats why im selling it. I also would like to sell it in order to buy accessories for my photo camera.
