What's the cost?

comparing it to a HDD, this seems to be lighter, consume less power, no noise (of course), and even faster! I'd like to see technologies like this one into our future computers. This and the memories that do not need power to keep data (faster shut down/boot times).

I read around $500 for the 8 GB model. Twice that for the 16 GB version.

I wonder if older cost:media models will apply similarly to solid state memory as it eventually replaces HDDs. I.e., will capacity continually increase as price decreases at the same rate as it did with HDDs, RAM, or even smaller capacities and versions of flash.

solid state, best drive for direct-to-disk DV shooting, but it'll be a while before larger capacities are out there, at a reasonable price.

It's from a company called Gigabyte (they make computer motherboards and graphics cards and stuff). It's supposed to sell for $89, but you have to BYO RAM chips - up to 4 GB right now. It's battery backed, too, so it can retain its info even after the computer is shut off.
