I always keep my filter on to protect from scratches and damage. The filter's cheap compared to the cam's lens.

Vinson Watson November 18th, 2002, 01:11 AM I always keep my filter on to protect from scratches and damage. The filter's cheap compared to the cam's lens. -Vinson Robert Knecht Schmidt November 18th, 2002, 02:32 AM I guess some of us don't appreciate double-entendre. Derrick Begin November 20th, 2002, 10:50 AM What a hoot! 1300++ Look-sees at this thread... Now, leaving the UV Filter on the camera is definate insurance on your investment. However, I have notice lense flares using it and have taken it off at times to remove them from the shot. Cheers! Kelly Hoggard December 9th, 2002, 02:22 PM I can't believe the number of replies from this post simply by putting the words "smoldering babes" in the title. I guess this is our equivalent of XL1 porn. We fellas are so hard up!haha Kelly Robert Knecht Schmidt December 9th, 2002, 05:59 PM And with 1531 views as of 2002-12-09, this could be the most-viewed thread on the DVInfo.net Community. Jeff Donald December 9th, 2002, 07:40 PM Far short, gentlemen. There is a post in the XL1 camera forum with almost 4500 views. It was also very active when the server crashed in July and hundreds (if not thousands) of views were lost. But please be advised Meta-Discussions will be deleted (posts, not threads). So keep up the good work but limit the discussions (as much as possible) to the topic at hand. Thanks. Jeff Dylan Couper December 31st, 2002, 10:28 AM I think THIS will safely answer the question of "Which camera gets you the smouldering babes" once and for all! http://www.hirespics.de/update-2002-12-23/reef.html I'm just wondering why I'm not getting gigs like this. Thanks to fellow video professional Keith Loh for forwarding this informative web page to me. Paul Sedillo December 31st, 2002, 01:43 PM Of course one of the picutres had a trusty XL1s in it! Glad to see they are being put to good use. Tell Keith thanks for the quality link! Jeff Donald December 31st, 2002, 02:10 PM Yah, both video cameras are XL1's and the still photographer is using a Canon also. Jeff Bryan Beasleigh December 31st, 2002, 06:48 PM Do you think they remembered to put tape in the cameras? Jeff Donald December 31st, 2002, 06:56 PM Or their tongues back in their heads. Jeff Mark Härtl January 1st, 2003, 08:46 AM <<<-- Originally posted by Bryan Beasleigh : Do you think they remembered to put tape in the cameras? -->>> No I don't think they can send you a copy Andrew Petrie January 1st, 2003, 11:04 AM <<<-- Originally posted by Frank Granovski : Yes. The US, Canada and Mexico have a free trade agreement. Hope that helps. -->>> What does this mean for Canadians exactly? Last time I ordered DV tapes form the states, UPS called one day demanding $70 at the border. They asked if they had a free trade agreement sheet with them, as if I would know what Pro Tape packaged (?)... Having said I didn't know, they told me to cough up the $70. I had no idea I had to request a free trade document from a US vendor, I assumed it was an automatic border-thing. If I've been charged $ I shouldn't have all these years, I'll be quite annoyed. Having said I didn't know, they told me to cough up the $70. -->>> UPS are very greedy people. If your item does the customs dance, they charge you something like $50+ as a brokerage fee. That's on top of shipping. Free trade means you don't have to pay DUTY on goods made in the USA, Can, or Mex, but you still have to pay TAX when something comes across the border. This is a broad generalization, there are lots of sub rules I'm sure. The the $70 UPS shanked you for? Probably $20 in tax at the border, plus $50 to UPS for them paying that $20 for you. Nice huh? This is a service the Postal Service does for FREE. Personaly, I will never ship UPS again unless it's my last choice. note: If you tell UPS that that is BS, they will wave their brokerage fee once, maybe twice, to keep your business if you threaten to switch to FedEx. Derrick Begin January 7th, 2003, 01:02 PM Wow this thread has certainly grown since the beginning. The number of views is EXCELLENT! People love the XL1S and if your holding it or making a movie. It gets people or 'smoldering babes' excited. Everybody, well almost, everybody wants to be in da Pictures. Cheers! Derrick Dylan Couper January 7th, 2003, 05:21 PM Some well informed web surfer (not sure if it was from a forum member) with too much free time sent me a link to an XXX rated sight where a GL1 was clearly visible filming, uh, reproductive acts.... However, I must point out that it only proves GL1 users have to PAY to get "smouldering babes" :) PS. Don't ask me what the site was. I don't kiss and tell. Tim Joseph January 8th, 2003, 01:55 PM I'm waiting for March. Spring break will be coming and all the girls will be heading down to Daytona. I'm gonna head up there with a couple friends and my XL-1s and see if i can get some good footage. We were thinking of paying a girl some cash to wear a t-shirt from our production company in a wet t-shirt contest. Yeah. Get the camera to do weddings, concerts and shorts and your mind goes straight to the gutter when it arrives. Joe Carney January 9th, 2003, 01:37 PM Tim... I'm pretty sure there are more and better looking women over in ClearWater (on the beach surrounded by Tampa). I've been to Daytona during spring break. The town has become completely family oriented. They really discourage the party crowd. Now the only hot babes that come around are during bike week. (coming up very soon btw). I've been to Clearwater during spring break and saw more string bikinied high quality stuff than you could shake a stick at. Almost as popular as Panama Beach. It's only a little longer distance from Winter Park. Just a thoght. Imran Zaidi January 9th, 2003, 01:43 PM Problem with Daytona, and especially during the Spring Break times, is there are all sorts of underage, flashing drunk girls all over the place. I made the mistake of going to a concert in Daytona a year ago during Spring Break. Stay away... That is, unless you're underage too. Then have fun. ;) Also, don't forget Cocoa Beach. It has quite a variety of all types... Jeff Donald January 9th, 2003, 03:25 PM Shhhhh, Joe. You not supposed to let everyone know about Clearwater Beach. It's the best kept Spring Break secret (and it's in my backyard). Jeff Joe Carney January 10th, 2003, 11:28 AM >>Shhhhh, Joe. You << You're right. Okay, I lied, there is nothing but skanks and 60 year old street walkers in Clearwater. sorry to mislead everyone, hehehe. Tim, go ahead to Daytona, you will like it their muuuuuuuch better, hehehe. thats it, much better. Andrew Petrie January 10th, 2003, 01:27 PM That's it, DVi meet at Jeff's place this spring. Bring your cams, we'll have a 'Best Footage' contest. Actually, that'd look pretty impressive wouldn't it? Five or more high quality camers, and all of us decked out in the same Production shirts :P They'll be lining up to get on camera, haha Joe Carney January 10th, 2003, 03:03 PM syneticDV.... and we could coordinate with a local Radio Station to make sure lots and lots of uhm.... 'talent' , thats the word, 'talent' showed up. I LIKE THIS! Rick Spilman January 10th, 2003, 03:12 PM Didn't the Scientologists take over Clearwater? You mean there are also good looking women there? Not Scientologists I hope. Rick Frank Granovski January 10th, 2003, 03:58 PM One guy gets the smoldering Swedish babes with the Pana MX8 (PV-DV952). Notice this cam is slim and long---poker like. This is his site: http://www.eeplaza.com PS: go with UPS 1 or 2 day service, that includes brokerage. The ground service does not. But I don't use UPS anymore. They have a real problem with losing packages due to theft. And they also try to cheat you with pricing. This has been my experience. I had arranged an Optura PI shipment to California last year via UPS. Guess what, it disappeared at the Vancouver UPS depot. Jeff Donald January 10th, 2003, 05:37 PM What's the mater Rick? Your not attracted to women in uniform? Actually, the college kids take over Clearwater for about 3 to 4 weeks for Spring Break, just like Joe says. The Scientologists don't care (they own many of the businesses in CW), the tourism money is still green. Jeff Bryan Beasleigh January 10th, 2003, 08:21 PM No need to order tape from the US if your in Canada. The tapeguys.com are actually a Canadian company and have an office in Brampton Ont as well as Kansas City. K. Forman January 12th, 2003, 09:18 AM I'm not sure it matters how much equipment you have, or what kind, if you don't know how to use it. The same goes if you lack the confidence, and try to overcompensate with gear. Be as good as you can possibly be with what you have, and be sure of it. They'll know. Keith Dylan Couper May 4th, 2003, 11:29 PM Who could forget this thread... Just want to add recent sightings of miniDV cameras in sexy scenarios... GL1 (or 2) - Snoop Dogg Girls Gone Wild infomercial on TNN, multiple cameras (2 weeks ago) VX2000 - Dragnet, a budget porno video was being shot with one. (tonight) XL1 - WWF (WWE whatever) was being used to film their "Divas" getting sexy at a ranch. (yesterday) XL1 - Fastlane, a higher budget porno was being shot with 2 XL1s. (a month ago) John Threat May 5th, 2003, 06:30 AM http://www.mediathreat.com/demo/cam Here is my rig, girls seem to dig it. I dislike the politics that go with having a sexy camera. sometimes i think the pd-150 guys are better off. people automatically think you are doing a real movie, which is a pain in the ass to be interrupted by being asked that all the time. When Im shooting with DV, it's usually a personal or low budget project which means little staff to stop interferrence and no permits. Also, shooting without permits becomes difficult for those shots that just would be too much trouble to get one for, although I just say my wife got this for my birthday and im just trying it out if the cops ask whats going on. Oh, i dont have a wife, so its OK for the smouldering babes to come up to me. :) Rob Lohman May 5th, 2003, 06:33 AM Nice rig John!! K. Forman May 5th, 2003, 07:09 AM "UPS are very greedy people. If your item does the customs dance, they charge you something like $50+ as a brokerage fee. " I use Fred X for ordering across borders. He doesn't deliver to your door, but he has a Buick with a hidden compartment in the trunk... No customs fees or taxes :) Garret Ambrosio May 6th, 2003, 07:10 PM Dylan so they use MiniDv to shoot porno? I think personally the VX9000 or the DSR-100a would be a great looking babe cam, looks like something that came off an Anime show. Rob Lohman May 7th, 2003, 05:29 AM They use MiniDV a lot in the porn industry.... |
