One of my cameras is a Canon XHA1 which does not have SMPTE I/O. If I sent SMPTE timecode to the camera and recorded it on one of the audio channels, is it possible to get FCP to see this audio track as timecode?

Thanks.

No, unless somebody has written some sort of filter for this. Audio track time code is very obsolete.

The easiest way to fix the sync problem is in post but first you have to make a visual or audio cue with all cameras running. Capture the Canon footage and modify the timecode in FCP so it's the same as the SMPTE footage from the other cameras. Just be sure the other cameras are recording drop-frame. If all the cameras are starting and stopping a lot, this isn't going to help much but if you are doing a concert or some other long form taping, it works great.

You might have a look at something like this.

That will do it, for $250.

The tcAUX Reader might just be the key here. Thanks for sharing.
