Anyone know if I can transfer A1U HDV footage (mini DV tape) to a SD Sony PC 1000 and capture in Adobe CS4?

Noel Lising February 8th, 2011, 07:40 AM I think the a1u can down convert HD to SD, so perhaps you can eliminate step 2 ( going to the SD Cam) and export directly to PC. The Sony HD1000U has a down convert button, I am pretty sure the A1U has one as well. Michael LaFortune February 8th, 2011, 07:54 AM Part of the problem is the footage is already shot in HDV. I want to send just the tapes to another state but they only have a Sony SD 1000 to upload and capture the footage in Adobe CS4. I prefer to keep it in the HDV format since it will be projected on a wide screen and used in a presentation. Thanks for the feedback. Jean-Philippe Archibald February 8th, 2011, 07:59 AM Can't do that. You need an HDV deck or camera to play/transfert HDV material. Michael LaFortune February 8th, 2011, 08:02 AM That's what I thought but wasn't hoping for. Thanks Jean-Philippe for the reply. Noel Lising February 8th, 2011, 08:03 AM Or you can capture the HD footage yourself (assuming you have the PC/Mac), dump the files to an external hard drive and send it to your client. 1tb hard drives are less than a $ 100 right now, cheaper than renting a deck in my opinion.
