Would the built in memory be more reliable than using an SD card? Just curious.
View Full Version : TM-700 - Internal memory or SD card? Herm Stork February 18th, 2011, 08:38 PM Would the built in memory be more reliable than using an SD card? Just curious. Les Wilson February 18th, 2011, 10:12 PM I would think so in a theoretical sense but probably not measurably. Why do you ask? Herm Stork February 19th, 2011, 12:10 PM Had a discussion with a friend who insists the built in memory would be more reliable than an SD card. I figured they may be equal in reliability, assuming one is using a name brand card. Just wondering what others would think. Les Wilson February 19th, 2011, 12:23 PM Well that's true, it could be unreliable if you put an unreliable card into it. But I don't think it's necessarily unreliable by definition. Alastair Traill February 19th, 2011, 03:32 PM No doubt there is some risk of damaging contacts etc with continued insertion and removal of the card. I was wondering whether it is possible to record on both the built-in memory and the SWd card at the same time in either the TM700 or the TM 900? Phil Lee February 19th, 2011, 03:42 PM Hi You can't record to both at the same time. Regards Phil Kirk Candlish February 19th, 2011, 05:38 PM I just had a card fail and everything on it was lost. Fortunately I had already backed up the file. I've never had a problem with the internal memory. FWIW Alastair Traill February 19th, 2011, 08:14 PM Thanks Phil, I suspected that there would be no parallel recording but there is no harm in hoping. Kirk has reminded me that I have had an SD card irretrievably fail. |
