I wish this shipped in the box with the camera! It actually explains all of the primary functions in easy to understand terms.

+1 as well, very useful and to the point (although a bit on audio would of been nice, just to cover all the bases...).

I went through the Sony FS700 manual. The Picture Profile Gamma section explanation is a little vague to me. Can anyone better explain what each Cine accomplishes? I normally use Cine 1 for overcast lighting or bright skies Cine 3 for subjects with even illumination, Cine 4 for high contrast situation. For the most part I just eyeball it and pay attention to the histogram. I'm trying to be a little methodical about choosing the right Cine for a given subject.

If it helps to understand the shapes of the different curves here are the different curves shot on a DSC Linear Ramp with knee and toe on factory defaults. "OFF" and "STANDARD" with defaults seem to be the same. This chart obviously can't give us a full 14 stops of reference, but it nicely demonstrates the strengths and weaknesses of the different curves.

I am building a backlit test chart that will allow testing of 14 or more stops.

The handbook seems to have disappeared from Sony's site. I luckily had downloaded the pdf. PM if you need it.

It looks like many of you have not updated your email addresses in your profile so I get a bounce-back when emailing you the link.

Instead I've decided just to post the link to the pdf that I put in my dropbox.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/93x19e9ynoksa9k/FS700%20Handbook.pdf?dl=0
