A friend asked me to get a suggestion for an underwater stills cam for when she goes diving (in French Polynesia, lucky woman!)

I know nothing.

She says between 500 - 1000 usd for camera and housing. She's only used point and shoot before, but willing to try dSLF if such a thing is available.

I recommended a Hero3 for underwater video, but I don't think the stills capability on that is what she's looking for.

Any thoughts or suggestions as to where else to look for advice?
