Thanks for writing that up Steve. The process kind of reminds me of the hours I used to spend on a Steenbeck. Although I think syncing film would still be faster!

After a quick review, the only note I would change is that in the "post shoot" section you should use the 1/8" audio out (at the back) instead of the headphone jack. That way there is no monitor pre-amp involved in the analog signal. Also, at what point do you delete the first two sync audio tracks that are now running at 19.5Khz? Or do you just plan to overwrite them?

I think anyone who wants to attempt this "dual-system" method should be forwarned that it is not repeatable if you lose your media or have a hard drive crash. Therefore backup everything! Timecode will not be digitized for the video or audio clips.

This obviously is a "free" alternative to buying LumiereHD, but it would be interesting to see which workflow actually saves more time.

Let's cross our fingers that Apple gets their act together soon and adds a simple 720P24 HDV capture preset!!!!

HDVxDV now supports 24P and camera original timecode! Simply capture with it, audio and all, convert to your desired codec (even 10-bit uncompressed) and import the files into FCP.

Let's also hope that Avid makes a workable solution when they release an HD version of AXP next summer. Doesn't 24p HDV work on their current PC version?

Good point--although it is on the side--I just found it easy to plug into the earphone jack. I'll make that change. Thank you.

When you disable input to A1/A2, they simply never get transferred to the Timeline.
