I am just getting started in video, mainly shooting
wedding receptions for the moment.
Just got the vx2000 & pd150.
And I am totally new at editing.....so my question
is which editing system has the easiest learning curve,
but would be good for event video?
How would you compare the stand alone's like casablanca
to the PC systems?

I would say the stand alone system would be extremely fast, and do the job great. It's designed to do that only.

A pc set up would of course be a bit slower, and suffer from glitches. But it would also be able to use Photoshop for titles, artwork, etc, and 3D Max ( Or Infini-D in my case ), to create 3D models and animation, the internet to find a solution for a problem...

And PCs cost a bit less than the dedicated stand alone.

I doubt the standalones will be faster than a current PC. It looks
like they have trouble keeping up... Ofcourse they usually contain
some dedicated hardware just for video. You can also buy such
a hardware/RT board for a PC if you want. Canopus and Pinnacle
make such boards.

If that's what you are looking for, go PC.
They are infinitely upgradable, and cheap enough that you could probably buy 2 or 3 fast systems for the price of a equivalent Cassie.
