Is it possible to mount one external FW drive(2 FW ports) to two macs simultaneously? I have tried it but will only mount to the first computer on port 1.

OS 10.2.3

No, it is not possible to connect via FireWire.

It is possible but to complicated to be practicle. If you were to buy the SAN Cube the problems would be taken care of but you would have to buy someone else's product. There are a few of them on the market that do this but there are better options in my opinion.

Most people want to share drives to be economical. The Sancube starts at $2,000 and goes up from there. If your needing to share files, build a small network or buy another drive.

That was actually my point. If you needed it to be firewire it could be done, but for the price you could get something, in my opinion, a little better. Especially when you look at the capacity of the San Cube and others like it. You could set up an internal ATA RAID with equal or greater capacity and flexibility (through networking) for a fraction of the price.
