Does it work with a JVC HD100? Does it come with the proper hardware to mount it to rails?

it does work with the JVC thats the camera I use it on, it works amazingly well, and I will help you learn how to set it up for the JVC if you buy it. The rails I have actually come with the mount so I never had to buy the mount, but you can buy the little bracket for cheap on letusdirect.com.

If you use Cavision rods, the front mount for the mattbox is actually what the adapter can sit on.

Does the XL1 have a removable viewfinder? If its removable then you should be able to just replace that.

I was told that he did look up how much it would cost to repair the XL1. He said it would cost more than $1000 - which is why he was considering buying an HV20 instead of repairing the XL1

Besides, I don't know what the market value is of the XL1. I mean, if it's $1000 to repair it but $1800 or so to sell used, I might as well just do a straight-up trade with him, fix it myself, and sell it at $1800 for a $800 profit...

i cant say ive seen the camera to know whats broken with it

but ive had an XL1 in the past with a "broken in half view finder"

what i learned through mine was that from the part you look through to the end you plug into the camera is just one little wire that runs through it... the plastic was broken i drilled holes in it and screwed on some metal plates to hold it in place...

this worked fine for me.

on a side note if its just the view finder thats not working. buy yourself a cheap external monitor and hook that up instead.

provided the camera itself is in good working order you might be sitting on a good thing

just my two cents hope this helps
