P2 Varicam

Hey guys, not sure if anybody has mentioned this yet. But I'm attending a workshop over the weekend at NAB and the one thing I can see posted up on the South Hall is a large Panasonic poster with a picture of a Varicam using P2 cards. There's a bigger picture on the North Hall and it is indeed a Varicam with P2 slots, strangely the picture is also using a Canon broadcast lens(?). Don't let your heads blow up over that one. =)

It was bound to happen eventually, intrigued to know the specs but I'm sure it will sit at the top of the Panasonic line-up.

Per our policy, this is Area 51 material until officially announced by Panasonic.

No, no, it's at NAB right now, posted on the front of the south and north halls for all to see! It says "P2 HD Varicam" with pictures of the AVC-Intra DVX100 replacement, can't remember what it's called, and a 64gb P2 card as well.

Chris is attending the Panny press conference in just a few hours; by tomorrow we'll all know exactly what Panny is offering.

Jack,

We all believe you. Chris needs to play by the rules to stay in the good graces of the manufacturers. If he keeps the cat in the bag, he keeps getting invited to the events that matter.

New VariCams (yes, 2 new models)

Got this information from another forum.

Quote:
2 models: HPX2700 and HPX3700. 2/3" chips. Both P2. Frame rates: 1-60. 2700 will be 720P and the 3700 will be 1080P at 4:4:4(4:4:4 possibly only to an outboard recorder). Also, Panasonic will have a color VF available(supposedly not compatible with the current 27H). And hopefully it's pricing won't be in the stratosphere like the Sony or AccuScene.
