Hints on mobo upgrade for Avid liquid?

I'm trying to figure out what kind of processor and motherboard upgrade I need to do in order to edit 1080i HDV with Avid Liquid 7 pro. I'm presently running with a P4 3.46 Mhz hyperthreading CPU on a South Lake motherboard (it's in a Gateway 700GR machine). AVID specs seem to call for a Xeon 3.0 Mhz dual processor setup (not the same as a dual core, right?). According to Gateway, the South Lake board will not support the Xeon chips which they identify as a server chip.

So if I'm going to go with dual processors it looks like I need to replace the mobo and chipset together. What is the best combo for use with Avid Liquid 7 editing 1080i?
