The Shining-Trailer Re-edit

This is hilarious. It also shows the power of editing and how good editing can transform a bad movie into a good one...or a a very disturbing movie into the feel-good movie of the year! Hope it hasn't been posted before:

Thanks for sharing..I love it.

Imagine showing this to someone that has NEVER heard or have seen this film before and then showing them the film.

That would be the prank of the year.

Very good, although I am not sure I would agree that Shinning is a "Bad" movie.

I didn't remember the line "I'm your new foster father" in the film, and a quick check in the Google cache shows somebody else already pointed this out. The re-edit is great, though. I found it very funny.

Not what I meant. I meant that we regularly see very "bad" movies spun into something that looks decent. In this case, they made a great movie look...umm...quite different.

I was leaning between the two and I hoped you meant a regular bad movie made to look good, which is Hollywood regular standard job done all the time. Its amazing what you can do with a movie. I've seen several dfferent trailers for the same moive and the mood for each was very different trying to reach different audiences.

goes to show ya, trailers can make or break a movie financially. case in point:
Serenity.

bad trailer, p00r box office #s. why couldn't directors cut their own trailers? *sigh*.

Hmm...I didn't think that trailer was that bad. I loved the movie and was a fan of the series, so maybe I was biased.

Serenity trailer wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't enough to draw-in non-fans.

The biggest problem with the Serenity trailer is that it really made it seem like you had to have seen the TV show or liked it to enjoy the movie. Considering the TV show failed, that's not a good marketing angle to take.

Note: I haven't seen the movie but it's been recommended highly to me.

as far as i recalled, neither movie trailers said anything about Firefly. i think they *tried* to target the movie trailers to non-fans. but it failed miserably. the fans will come no matter what. even if you didn't show the trailer the browncoats fansites will be crawling with people finding how advanced showtimes/screenings, etc. it's like star trek/star wars. you don't really gotta say anything to those crowds. they'll come no matter what. it's already their addiction.

but for the non-fans what's in it for them? i think both serenity trailers didn't give enough reasons why they should come. but then again, a lot of people do just write joss whedon off.
