Each season seems to be improved. I bet the next season will be no exception. So I'm sure they'll keep in plausible. Besides, Jack is America's 007 but without the cheeks. Hmmm, maybe that will change. :-)

The whole thing was too weak and anticlimactic, after all the buildup it had gotten.

I wonder why the producers have such a penchant for killing off so many of the featured characters, both heroes and villains? There's such a list of casualties, they could hold a convention. Maybe they could invite them to appear on talk shows, the way they do with the latest "Survivor" rejects.

How many fans will die of old age during the 8 months before the next season starts?

I too think the ending felt a bit "rushed". I can believe they would arrest the
president after a call (certain procedures must surely exist), but the recording
and everything is a bit flaky. It didn't feel that spectacular after all that's
happened.

I doubt the next season will see something like Jack being exchanged. He is
"dead", after all.

Is there any news of a new season? They do have a pretty good start if they
decide to do a movie first.

Yes, they did kill off a lot of characters. That definitely added to the suspense
in the first half of the season I thought. It could be that those people them-
selves wanted out (that does happen) or they it could've been done for suspense.

The series Lost has killed off a pretty large group of people by now as well...

Dennis Haysbert had to go work on "The Unit" as the central character so good for him, bad for "24".

The biggest shock after that was Edgar being killed off since he was so harmless and likeable. Poor Chloe.

I believe they continually alter at least the minor parts of the plot and cast lineup, as they procede through the season's production. Several actors from the series have said they usually don't know from one episode to the next, what their character will be doing or even if they will survive. In pro football training camps, they notify players that they have been cut, by emptying out their lockers after their last practice. When they come in the next day, all their equipment is gone. I wonder if they do something similar on this type of series, when a character is scheduled to be killed in the next week's show?

Has anyone else noticed how many actors are being quickly recycled after being killed or otherwise dumped off other series? One of the women on "CSI-NY" assassinated a President of an African country on the street in NYC last June, on another show. Come September, she was a sweet and righteous CSI on the new show. The actor who plays the disabled sergeant on "The Unit", appeared in 4 different primetime shows in the last 2 weeks. There's about a dozen character actors who get passed around on half a dozen different shows each, every year. Remember how Jack Webb had his own stable of bit actors who appeared many times in different parts on "Dragnet"? There certainly isn't any shortage of other willing and underemployed actors they could use, instead. Maybe this could be a new thread, about how many shows there are, in which certain actors can be spotted. Perhaps the rule is, that if a bit actor has no name recognition, then they can be used repeatedly.

A few actors have become so entrenched and identified in longterm roles, they have a great difficulty moving into a new one. I haven't seen Dennis Franz in anything after "NYPD". Jimmy Smits and what's-his-name, now on "CSI-Miami", had long, mostly-dry spells after leaving that show. It took Alan Alda a decade and a half after "M.A.S.H.", to fit into another continuing dramatic TV role.

One More Quick Recycle

I just started watching the new "Apocalypse" TV movie tonight, and the late
"Tony" has already switched from "24" to "10.5", re-emerging as "Dr. Miguel".

From what I've read they are very much seat of their pants. Except where Kiefer is concerned.

All the time. People gotta eat.

I always enjoy remembering people who reappear in Law & Order shows. "Hey! That murderer from that episode is now the judge!"

From the TV ads it seems the next season will have some silly new shows. What ever happened to Data's, "Threshold?" Than one was a real loser. Hopefully, 24 will just get better. :-)

Nate Schmidt May 30th, 2006 05:57 PM

The attorney general wouldn't do that for just any call, but since it was from CTU which obviously would verify the recording before playing it for him, also those were U.S. Marshalls that arrested Logan.

Frank Granovski May 31st, 2006 03:11 AM

But the prez confessed on tape that he was involved with KILLING the former prez---who I see doing ads (so he's not really dead).
