Re: Upgrade to C100 worth it?

I would ditch the EA50 in favour of the C100. So much better in low light. The ergonomics are different, but good. If Sony put an FS700 inside the EA50 body, all bets are off. That would be awesome. But the C100 image will be a significant upgrade for you.

Re: Upgrade to C100 worth it?

I should mention, I'll be keeping the EA50 either way, it serves a different purpose. Really what I'm trying to decide is 1) buy the C100, or 2) spend some money upgrading the EA50.

So far I'm leaning towards the C100.

I also meant to ask - is it possible Canon will ever release a firmware update to allow 1080p 50/60?

Possible? Who knows? Only Canon really know that.

Likely? I would say NO, and I'd even put money on that. They will hold that back for the next model.

Re: Upgrade to C100 worth it?

The thread named "C100: Be Happy" explains the capabilities of the C100 rather well including why it is incapable (due to hardware) of doing certain things. Ever.

I'd have bought a C100 already except for the awful LCD/EVF, center only AF zone and CODEC. After two DSLRs and variable ND screw on filters, I'm not getting another camera without NDs and flip out screen. Period. No discussion.
