Low cost servo zoom option for Cinema Eos Cameras
As someone who has used the Canon 18-135 STM lens with my C300 for documentary situations where I both need a lens with a wide variable focal range and won't get the chance to change lenses I was interested to read about the soon to be released new Canon 'Nano' 18-135mm which pairs up with a small motorised power zoom adapter.
Whilst this isn't up to the creamy L lens quality it is a very sharp lens and could well prove to be a useful addition to my camera bag. I really miss being able to zoom in or out and whilst it's possible to do small manual moves they are sometimes a bit jerky. Here is a link to the Newshooter.com article about these new products. Re: Low cost servo zoom option for Cinema Eos Cameras
I said in a previous post it would have been nice to have a unit like this for proper glass... The kit lens with its 5.6 at 135 is pretty unusable for most situations...
I saw a third party unit a few years ago that clipped onto any lens and turned it into a video lens more or less.. pity it never hit the shops. http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/attachme...1&d=1456044879 certainly looked more interesting than the Canon offering. Cheers Gareth
