Any idea on if its body only or kit?

I haven't heard any more specifics ... Our small-town but good camera store's manager said the only official kit in the US should be with the 28-135mm IS. Weird and lame, if so.
BUT he said he thought they could hopefully special order some kits with the new 18-135 IS Canon ... but not with the 15-85, I believe.

That'd be awesome if I could get mine by the end of next week. We'll see how far back in the queue I am I guess.

...if you click on the "Pre-order Estimate Arrival Time" link in the middle of the page it says 10/13-10/19/2009.

We should be getting ours next week as well. We have a pre-order list going. Call and ask for Stevie to get on it. 212-462-0100.

Hopefully this time next week I'll be shooting with one.

I placed my pre-order at Amazon Sept. 1 around 9am CST. Amazon's website doesn't say when the 7D will ship out. However, on Amazon's iPhone app, it says shipping date is Nov. 2!

I really hope this is not true. I want the 7D in my hands yesterday. =)

I put in an order for one at B&H. Hopefully they will ship them out next week.

Stores in Toronto had them on Saturday.

I got a call yesterday afternoon, and I picked mine up this afternoon. I'm in Ottawa.

My 7D order status with B&H has changed from "back order" to "processing".

I hope that means they got their shipment from Canon today.

Got mine a couple hours ago from Swanlund's, our great little Eureka, Calif., USA, independent camera shop :) ...

An early mini-review coming soon -- I just shot a few stills and a tiny bit of video at a sunny/backlit protest against the proposed Marine Life Protection Act.

NOTE: My dealer said 7D kits with lens (almost exclusively 28-135) won't be available until middle of October ... I wonder if that's true for all small shops or even all North America sellers?

Mine will be in from Calumet tomorrow. I called them on Monday asking if they had any idea when they would be in stock. The rep said he was told "end of month". Less than an hour after I hung up, they sent a tracking number.

Here in Japan (the home of Canon) the camera still hasnt been released. Rumours are it could be this weekend.

First units should be out in the stores later this week. Body only coming next week in Singapore

FYI-Just called Calumet and they said order one today and it will be 1-2 weeks.

B&H reflected "taking pre-orders" either Sat or Sun (forget which) again so I pre-ordered. When they opened up on Tue the item listing reflected "back ordered".

Tracking my "order" yesterday showed "on backorder". Checked again today around noon and status is "ready to ship". They must have got some in and some of us got lucky on the timing.

I'd say watch B&H about twice a day and when they open up "pre-order", pop right on it.

Onecall does not have a date yet from the people of Canon. Nothing confirmed for this week.
They were accepting pre orders since begining of month but not having a concrete date.

Most retailers received their shipment from Canon today. Mine is already shipped and according to FedEx should be here on friday. I ordered mine from Dury's.

A friend of mine who pre-ordered his from Amazon has been shipped today as well.

I'm showing shipped from B&H today. 3-day delivery puts it here Monday.

Yesterday for my local retailer in Austin (Precision Camera). They received twenty body-only kits, fourteen of which were on pre-order, including mine. Several folks canceled their kit-with-lens orders and picked up the body instead. Within a couple of hours, they were all gone.

Mine is showing "ready to ship" at B&H. I should see it early next week.

Yesterday I got an email and had my 7D ordered within a few minutes. About an hour later they were back ordered. Today I got a tracking email and the 7D will be here Friday via USPS. I feel bad for people who pre-ordered and still haven't gotten theres.

(I didn't buy mine from B&H. But I always support B&H when possible.)

Has anyone received one WITH lens? I think I'm going to change my pre-order to the body-only if it's quicker.

I feel your pain. It's pretty tough to read the Amazon page which still reads, "This item has not yet been released", and on here I'm reading of people walking into stores, buying the camera, shooting short films and posting them online. I kind of feel left out of the celebration. Oh well, there is always tomorrow... and also next week. :)

Considering we have a full RED setup, it's not TOO painful. ;-) But I am excited to get my hands on this smaller camera. The RED is great, but it's a lot of setup for quick shots.

I just added a body-only to another order on Amazon to see which gets to me quicker. Hopefully they don't both come in the same day...I don't need 2!

That's funny, I did the same thing this morning. Now I've got a body only and a kit coming as well. I have a feeling they might be seeing a pattern there. Alright, good night and happy waiting.

I ordered the camera about an hour after it was announced on 8/31 and this is the first time that I have heard from them since then. Not very encouraging. I am hoping this is just Amazon's way of clearing out pre-orders that others may no longer want.

Canon WITH lens kit
 

I dont remember where I read it, maybe just another forum rumor, but I had read a post claiming the 7d WITH lens would'nt start shipping till mid october. Since Im switching from Oly to Canon, I dont have any lenses yet, and need that kit setup. Anyone else have word on the kit?

Yeah no word from AMZN about my pre-order body with lens. I can't really do anything without the lens since it's my first still camera. Luckily I can be patient and wait a few weeks.

In the UK I'm still waiting on my pre-order with the 15-85mm lens from Jessops. If I'd ordered the body only then I'd probably already have the camera by now. They said I should receive it by mid next week (wc 5th Oct).

My retailer told me that they were expecting two variations of the kit with lens... one packaged with the EF 28-135mm lens, which is the kit version I had previously heard about, and the other packaged with the new EF-S 18-135mm lens, which makes perfect sense as a kit. However according to the press release for the new EF-S 18-135mm lens, it won't be available until later in October, so we can't expect that kit to reach the shelves until that new lens is ready.

Leaving up in the air the question of availability for the kit with the existing EF 28-135mm lens... my impression was that it would be another week or ten days or so from now until it starts shipping.

Hi Simon, without wishing to rub salt into your wounds, my Jessops body only, arrived on Monday. If it's any consolation, I haven't had a moment to try it yet...torture!
