Why YUV? Probably locking up because your HDD can't play that much data?

What do u plan to do w/ the video? DVD, VIMEO, YouTube, Blu-Ray? I haven't worked yet with Vegas, but I'd consider steering away from AVI and look into exporting your edited video to MPEG-2 (Blue-Ray) or H.264 (online).

vimeo and youtube... but I would like the quality to be there if someone wants to view it full screen.
