HDMI is digital, component is analogue, so you'll need an HDMI to component converter like this one:

HDMI to Component Video /VGA Converter: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

There is a component output cable included with the 7D. It has a red white and yellow RCA connector on one end, and a small plug on the other that goes into a jack next to the HDMI output on the camera. I got a 15 foot mini-HDMI cable off ebay for $10 and prefer using that as the resolution is much better than the component output.

Sorry but that it *not* a component video output and cable. Instead it is a composite video output and cable; and there's a world of difference between the two. Hope this helps,

I'd like to find a one-foot long version of that cable, from the Canon connector to composite video. I'm using a small SD LCD monitor with the AV output and less cable to bundle up would be nice. I don't even need the two audio cables.

That's quite all right; I'm still reeling from the tryptophan.
