550d Optimum menu settings

hi
I have searched the posts and cant see an answer to this, but no doubt someone will point me at the answer.

I bought a Cannon 550d a couple of weeks ago and have got some great footage out of it, but am starting to see the Mori issue that is written about widely on the web in my clips.
I wanted to see if anyone had written up an optimum menu setting guide for the 550d to get the best out of the camera in various conditions?

You won't find this answer. There are no optimum menu settings. Only a series of trade-offs and compromises.

The best course of action is to spend time learning the various camera functions and gaining experience with them, so that as the need arises, you can react with the proper settings to solve whatever problem you may be facing. Since there could be thousands of different scenarios to face, no one answer would ever be correct.

You can't fix the moire problem via any settings in the menu. You can defocus a bit, or use a filter like the anti-moire ones from Caprock

Both ways you'll lose sharpness, and with the filter you'll lose a bit of contrast.

Agreed...part of owning any camera is knowing it inside-out so you can adapt quickly. The color and sharpness are the changeable things that are personal taste and there's a few threads with those settings but they are other peoples suggestions. I prefer to make my own.
As for moire, that is one of the unfixable things on the dslrs. I've run into it on clothing and unfortunately it was not an actor that I could simply ask to change. Ended up using my other camera footage as it was horrible!
