Help with Proxy Files, please

Good Morning and Happy New Year, everyone. I have never worked with Proxy files. I downloaded a trial version of Magic Bullet Grinder, which allows me to convert footage from the 7D to QuickTime. One of the features is that the program will also add timecode and name of clip to a proxy file. I tried this and it worked fine. The proxy file was easily editable in Final Cut Pro. They say once edited, you can relink the proxy files to the larger original files, complete will all edits and keys for output. Here is where I am having problems. I assume this is the 'Reconnect Media' command. When I try this, it makes the movie, and the finished file is larger than the proxy. Unfortunately, the burned in timecode and file name from the proxy file are there as well. Either I am not linking the proxy and original correctly, or the trial version is fixed so these items transfer to the final movie until you purchase the program. Anyone know what is going on here? The program is $49 and I have no problem in purchasing it, just wanted to see if it is easier or worked better than other conversion programs I have. Thanks in advance for your help.

Any reason you are using this instead of the EOS plug-in for FCP that is free?

No reason

Hi Dave:
Just thought I would check it out. I do have the free plug in as well. The main issue is I have never used proxy files and was playing around with that. I added the timecode and name through the new program, but when I went to reconnect to the original files, the timecode burn stayed in the final output.
