Matte box recommendations

I'm shopping for a matte box for my 7d and 5d but I also need a matte box to mount with either the Sony FS100 or the new FS700 which will be my next camera. Question what should I consider before buying a matte box and what do you recommend? The matte box will not be used for run-n-gun it will be locked down on a tripod. I really like the Red Rock but it looks a bit bulky and heavy although weight is not too important but at the same time I like to keep my gear light. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Matte box recommendations

Kajito,

The microMatteBox is a studio matte box, so while it is large, it's no larger then any other matte box with similar features, so it really comes down to what you need your gear to do for you.

The microMatteBox is a swing away matte box which is great for when you are changing lenses. It can support filters as large as 5.65x5.65, and while it comes standard as a 2 stage unit, you can expand on it and add additional stages if the environment calls for it.

Cheers,

Loren Simons
