Release date on 5DmkII yet?
 

Just wondering if anyone has any real world numbers on a release date for the 5DmkII?

October 18th but back-ordered like you wouldn't believe....

Really? Where are you seeing that? BH says it's not available until november or december for the body only.

October 18th is incorrect. I don't know where that date came from.

Sorry .... I got my info from my Canon dealer, guess they were wrong.
I can't get mine until after Jan 1st anyway (biz budget kicks in)

any update...

Sometime this month is what I've been told... any time between now and Nov. 30th.

Any new information on a release date?

For what it is worth, my local camera shop "Broadway Camera" (no not the NYC scam site) has told me Dec 5th.

There are also rumors that the camera by be released on the 28th in the USA. Unfortunately there is no way to be sure.

It reminds me of X-Mas when i was a kid... nothing anticipation and hope that you got what you asked Santa for :)

If you go to this site and click on the red 5D Mark ll HD box, some information comes up with a date of 11/29/08. Two other dates, today and the 23rd are also listed. I can't read Japanese or translate the flash page, but I'd be interested in whats happening on that date. Anyone read Japanese?

There is also no major pre-order backlog here, due to it only shooting in 30P I guess

I'm hoping it would be earlier than that. The Broadway Camera in Richmond (perhaps vancouver too), was one of the first places to receive the D700 when it first came out. It stocked it atleast a few days earlier than most places in the states.

The camera was released today (25th November 2008) in Hong Kong stores. The body only, recommended retail price is HK$ 20,800. There maybe only slight discounts in stores as first batch of delivery is very limited. The camera is in the Canon showroom at Tsim Sha Tsui for those wanting to examine it

Park Cameras in the UK have just called to confirm that my 5D mk II pre order will be ready to pick up this Friday (28th). Now just to find the cash.

just got a confirmation email from Ritz saying my camera has shipped - I didn't order until after seeing 'Reverie' (maybe 2-3 weeks after the camera was announced) so I assume that means they're shipping enough to fill most of the initial orders.

and by the time I entered my credit card info... it's gone.

thanks for the update, evan. I'm anxiously waiting for any such information from ritz since I ordered 9/29 (according to my order status info on their website which also still lists as backordered). Any idea what day you ordered? was it a body only or kit? Just a bit anxious since I'm going away for a week on Friday and It'd be exciting if i could get it before then...

Keep an eye on it. It went back "In Stock" at 4:57 PM PST, then out of stock 15 minutes later.

Are there any retailers that carry the unit? Best Buy? Paying sales tax would suck, but this whack-a-mole game with online shops can get tiresome.
