Video straight to hardrive

Does anyone know if the Canon 5d Mark II can record straight to the computer via the usb or the HDMI?

i would love to capture straight to my hardrive for longer shots then the CF card Limitation?

Hi Juniper,

You cannot record via usb with Canon Eos Utility as the record button is grayed out.

You have to choose the camera icon (straight to CF Card) you can control the record function via the computer, but thats about it.

HDMI is scaled down when you hit the record button. To capture using HDMI you would have to record the preview stream including info.

Happy Christmas, James

Hi, I believe you can record straight to hard drive if you buy the optional wi-fi transmitter grip. That's the only way, don't know why but I'm guessing its because the grip has an extra memory buffer.

I believe you can move video files with wireless, but at 38mbs I doubt very much that it can be recorded in real time to a remote device.

Just to clarify, the wireless grip allows you to record to a usb attached hard disk, not a wireless one.
