Canon used in British Airways commercial
I can see in the BTS the DSLRs, just don't know exactly what and where they were used in the AD.

Awesome ad - great find :-)
If they've done it right, you wouldn't be abled to tell which shots were done with the DSLRs and which with the ARRI film cams. But I believe that the cockpit shots from 0:57 and up are done with DSLRs - mainly because that's more practical in those confined spaces. |

Re: Canon used in British Airways commercial
There are a few shots with extremely shallow dof, but look like wide angle lenses, these could possibly been have shot with a 5D. Of course, you can also create that effect in post, but a few cockpit shots could have been done that way. No problem matching the film into what the DSLRs can manage when shooting video.

Re: Canon used in British Airways commercial
That is a stunning ad. The Canon's might just be being used as directors viewfinders, but I can also see how they would be extremely useful in the cockpit shots, maybe also the on-plane camera which would explain the jello.

As an aviation nut and as someone who's been in the production biz a while, that is now one of my fav ads of all time. Really is a benchmark to aspire to from the concept to the script, shooting to the editing and grading. Fantastic!!!
And here's another Vid from the series... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUQJi...e_gdata_player

Re: Canon used in British Airways commercial
This is without question the best advertisement I've seen in years, if not my entire life.
Well done British Airways, well done. |
