24p vs 30p question

I just wanted to ask some experienced videographers out there a frame rate question.

I'm filming for a hunting show on Outdoor Channel. First off, the scenario is definitely not ideal. The majority of the footage in the show is going to be a mixture of HD camera footage (tapeless and HDV) coming from the hunters in the field. There's also a production crew that will be filming with 5Ds at group functions. Now, because we're working with such a hodge-podge, we're setting our 5Ds and 60Ds to 30p instead of 24p to match with everything else we'll be getting. If we went to 24p, probably some people would fail to set their cameras to that frame rate and everything would be mixed up. Plus, it would be nearly impossible to get all of these hunters to change frame rates with all the variety of cameras they're using.

However, I'll be shooting footage for the show intro at a particular shoot, which will be completely under my control with Canon DSLRs. So my question: Would it be strange to have a show intro entirely shot in native 24p, and to have all of the show content in 30p? Or should I just be safe and consistent and shoot everything in 30p?

Thank you,

Jacob

Re: 24p vs 30p question

Just stick to 30p. In this case there is really no benefit in shooting only the intro in 24p. By the way, check out my YouTube page:

Yep.......

Packing up for the moose season up here in Ontario. I'd love to be able to mix my two most favourite hobbies together...
But yeah....Keep it at 30P.

Intros are usually quick and flashy anyways...40 frame durations with crazy strobing, and lots of After Effects and stylizing. 24F will do nothing for you...

Yes. Go with 30p. I really like the 24fps aesthetic, but gladly shoot in 30p when the project calls for it.

Your project calls for 30p. :)
