weird flashing symbol on GL2

ever since i got my GL2 (week ago), i've been getting a small red flashing symbol on the screen. it is to the left (and little below) the battery symbol. it is red and it looks like a little boat w/ a cross coming out of it (?)...then there is a red slash through the "boat"....it doesn't seem to be affecting the camera, but i can't figure out what it is, and it's kind of annoying.

Sounds like it could be your backup battery warning. It may be time to replace it. Failing to do so could lose your cam's date/time settings and other custom settings when the main battery is removed.

Ditto - here too! I also thought it was a bloke rowing in a boat. Read the manual - realised it was a X-section of a flat battery - duh!

I even looked at the tiny battery and thought, " Oooh that's nice - Canon have included a spare for the backup battery! Nice people." I didn't think it WAS the backup battery.
