Hi Eugene, there is no significant difference in low-light performance between the HG20/21 and the HF series.

Thanks Chris, Looking forward to the full review plus any clips made for the review. Comparisons to the Sony SR series and Panasonic SD series would be much appreciated. I am deciding between the Canon HG20 and the Sony SR-11 (The Canon is priced much lower than the Sony but what do I have give up with the HG20?).
