HV 20/30/40 PQ compared to sony SR-12 at DVinfo.net

Although i own a SR-12 and find its pq very good and would not bother upgrading to the new 500/520 models the toils of avchd editing is finaly getting to me and i am seriously thinking of changing to a canon HV-40.Does anyone own or have owned both of these cams i know the HV40 is not out yet but the HV-20/30 are similar, if so how does the pictures compare.Please no manufactuar bias but any info and help would be appreciated.

Another thought will the hot shoe adaptor i use on my sony to use a rode mic with fit the canon if i get one,if not i presume i will be able to get one that fits the canon shoe.
