Canon HF11 - any way to monitor?

Hi

First post, please be gentle.

I just got a Canon HF11, and am very happy with it - one question I have is, is there any way of monitoring the video while shooting, preferably on a Mac laptop? Does Quicktime and associated apps (iMovie, iChat, etc) only support DV flavors of camera? Are there any other apps that would work, or is there a hardware/format limitation?

I'm guessing the HDMI output only works during playback, correct?

Many thanks for any advice/experience.

Matt
