iLife 08 import question

Does anyone know if iLife 08 imports A1 footage without the earlier patch from Apple?

With the previous version of iLife, you had to purchase a download from Apple for the program to recognize the the camera. I may be wrong, but I thought that was the way it was. Just looking for a confirmation that this is no longer required.

Not me.
From iMovie HD, the A1 has been recognized all the time without downloading any patch.
(But when capturing from FCE, I have to disconnect anything but the camera from the FW bus).

Today I plugged my new A1 into a tired old PowerBook and iMovie HD saw it just fine. Would only capture at 1/8 speed, but that's the fault of the slow processor. Otherwise it worked.

Maybe that is what I was trying to remember, not sure. Anyway, I haven't tried to download any footage from my A-1 because I didn't think it would work without the $50.00 purchase. I've been saving my pennies for the new suite.
