Finally made my choice

And it's the Canon XH-A1. Best bang for the buck as far as I could see. This forum seems to be overflowing with satisfied customers, and most reviews on it are stellar. Still a bit concerned with Chromic Aberration, but it seems that if it were really a large problem with the camera, we'd here about it from users more often.

So, count me in on the Canon club. :) (Although, eventually, I will return to Sony when I have money for the XDCAM EX.)

Great choice Brandon. Check out the preset threads.
You'll be amazed at the picture quality.
I shoot HD burn to SD, watch it on my Toshiba 36 crt tv. Blown away.

Congrats!

You'll probably like this article. It's about the XL H1, but other than the removable lens and some other goodies like SDI out, the guts are the same.

Scroll down to the next to the last article from the bottom--Scott Billups' piece. His take on 24F is interesting too.

The March issue of EventDV mag also has a ratyher nice write-up on the XHA1. Sorry I don't have the link, but it's worth looking up.

Please don't take me the wrong me but

in the following article: http://blog.broadcastengineering.com...tion/#more-138
Could it be that this is an article sponsored by Canon and that the gentleman received money from canon to write such a nice review?

I don't want and I hate to be in such state of mind, but this is a VERY common practice for drugs, foods, running shoes etc...why not for cams?

That's a logical thought, for sure. Scott Billups has a pretty sterling reputation from articles he's written and his overall professional experience, so I dunno.

Canon does not pay for reviews. I know Scott Billups and he would not accept money to write a positive review.
