Hey everyone. First two days of production on my first feature was this past week and the footage came out wonderful. I thought I would make a thread here to share screenshots and possibly rough cuts as we go along. Comments are welcome.

Those grabs look great... Nice color grading too... I would love to see a trailer or a block of shots....

good frames
A good film-look; what kind of preset have you used? 25p or 60i? gain? shutter? ecc.
what will you think about the duration time of your movie? thanks! |
I especially like those outdoor shots, those look very good.
|
Did you use any lighting for the interior shots? What kind?

What lights used depends on the shot but were using a combination of Lowel lights (Rifa, Pro, Omni, Tota), some Arri 650's, a Mole 2k, and two Mole 1k's and other accessories. Glad you like the stuff, thats encouraging. |

You look like a master of the Letus.
Which lenses are you using, and have you any tricks for focusing so well? |
Thanks for the comment :) Honestly I just look at the monitor and focus till it looks best. I have a Redrock FollowFocus for shots where the focus needs to be adjusted during a shot but other than that its all about having a keen eye I suppose. Make sure you have a good monitor to focus with too, I own a 7in Marshall monitor.
For lenses I'm using Nikon Primes. I have a 50 F1.4, 28 F2.8, and 85 F2.0. They work just fine :) |
Teaser Trailer now Available!

Looks great Kyle! What setting did you use for YouTube?
|
|
Hey, great trailer! The film you are making looks awesome - the test footage I've seen so far of the Letus is great but it's nice to see the Letus in action on a feature film such as this one. It's shots like these which are making me seriously consider getting the Letus Extreme. Good luck with the completion of your film - I know it will turn out great!

Hey guys, we need some prayer for this weeks shoot. The weather doesn't look like its going to be cooperative and we need this week to be successful. Above all pray for Saturday where we have planned extras and cars for props and all sorts of things that we've already tried once and got rained out. Pray the rain holds off and that we get what we need shot because it will be very difficult to set this up for a third try.
Thanks a lot everyone, your support is appreciated, as always. :) |
I'll definitely throw in some prayer, Kyle. Don't let the bad weather deter you, especially if this is something you feel led to do by God. My first film, The Broken Quiet, faced a similar situation once. We were reshooting the beginning, and it was threatening to rain the entire time we were out there. Fortunately, it didn't start until after we moved to the indoor shoot, and then, it wasn't visible -- in fact, it kept the sun dim enough that you could see clearly outside without need of much light inside -- which upped the scene's quality in look substantially.
Looking back at the outdoor scene, it was absolutely beautiful. The sun was perfect, the clouds were gorgeous, the colors muted and depressing, which was absolutely spot on perfect for that scene. So, never fear -- it might just be the Divine doing a little art direction. :) |

Here are some new screengrabs:

Here's the rig:
http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/phot...06490_7615.jpg |
The rig looks as great as the screenshots - I believe that's a Letus (or perhaps not?), but what else am I looking at?
|
That rig includes:
- Canon XHA1 - Letus Extreme (the picture includes a Nikon Mount and a 200mm Nikkor lense) - Marshall 7in Monitor - Redrock Micro Shoulder Mount with 28mm rails - Redrock Micro Follow Focus - a Cavision Rail system is inbetween the Redrock and the Camera (basically a glorified lift for the camera so the Letus doesn't touch my rails Glad you enjoyed the screengrabs :) |
Kyle,
Thanks for sharing your faith. If I missed it, my apologies, any chance to see the A1+LetusEX footage as film? Tx |
The Teaser Trailer for the film is available on our website at StandingFirmMovie.com

Great "look and feel` of the movie!
Have you shot whole film with an adapter, or some scenes done without? |
I think all I shot without the adapter is a few plate shots of exteriors and a few things. Other than thats its always been the adapter and whole setup together. Even if I wanted to shoot something without the adapter on set its a pain to take it all apart and put it back together again. Time is money.
|
Kyle,
All I have to say is wow! Everything I've seen looks great! Your movie looks very compelling. Loved the trailer! And thats one serious rig. What tripod and head are you using for that? Did you use any type of steadicams or just the Redrock shouldermount for any moving shots? |
Bogan 519 head with a different set of legs...I'm not positive of the name right this second.
|
Kyle, have you had a chance to watch Religulous? If so, I'd be interested in hearing your evaluation of it.
|
Unfortunately I would like to see it to see if its what I think it is...but that means supporting it by giving my money...which I wont do.
