This may not be a consideration where you live, but if you plan to shoot anything in sub-freezing weather, the A1 should do quite well.

I shot a lot last winter in northern New England where the temperature could be down in the lower teens (F) and had no problem. Didn't even crimp battery life by more than about 20%.

This could be comparable to the Sony and others but I don't know having no experience with them.
