This is for left side position only.

I can put the recorder on top of the handle for I have the HD bracket attach to it, but I still prefer on the left side so I could see if the unit is recording while using the eye viewfinder.

I use the dogleg also on my 5D MK 2 to attach the Tascam DR 100.

Something you could try while mounting it on the handle, is using a Noga Arm. Attach the Noga Arm to the handle bracket and the other to the MRC1K. Then simply position it where you like.

I usually position it off to the left and angled down slightly to operate as needed.

Of course I just bought 2 NX5Us so I will be selling off my FX1s and MRC1K unit.
But the MRC1K did work great with the FX1. Never missed a beat.

Rickey, I've been using the HVR-MRC1 with my Z5U for over a year with great results and want to get one for my older FX1. The link to the bracket on idcphotography.com doesn't work and I can't seem to find the bracket I see in your photos on their website. Also, what is it between the body of the FX1 and your 701HDV video head that appears to wrap around the back of the FX1? Thanks.
