A1 in transit

I just got my tracking number, it should be arriving on Thursday (estimate).

I ordered from Chris at ZGC, and have had a great experience thus far. She was great to deal with on the phone, and let me know if I had any problems when the camera arrived to call her she'd take care of it. I don't want to speak too soon since the camera hasn't arrived yet, but I don't expect any problems.

These next two days are going to be long.

You will enjoy this camera which is perhaps the best camera in my stable.

You can download the manual and spend the next two days RTFMing, so you'll be ready when it arrives.

Yes, I work primarily with Chris from ZGC for all of my equipment needs. I love the service they provide. Second to none.

How much did it cost from there? Is there a website someone can give me for this ZGC place? Thanks.

Yesterday my XH A1 arrived, I love it. I've been watching for a good HDV camera for about 6 months. I'm happy all the reading of reviews and wait for the XH A1 was worth it :-), especially the clips here on dvinfo persuaded me, this was the camera I needed :-)
Next month I'll get Final Cut Studio, but at the moment first tests in iMovie give superb quality. Only minor point was some grain, but I was in low light. But after uploading the low light preset from dvinfo the grain was considerately less :-)

Will do some outdoors shooting this weeked, but I already love it.

I just ordered an XH-A1 myself from B&H (that $300 price drop ws certianly attractive) as well as a 755 Tripod with 503 head to go with it! It shipped today, so it should be here within 3 days. I can hardly wait for it.

Now I just need to find a good used mic kit (or save up for a new one) and get that sony eyepiece for it!

It arrived, and I've been playing with it nonstop. This is a HUGE step up from the GL2. I hooked it up to a 720p HDTV, and it looked amazing, especially since I just tried my GL2 on that same TV a few days ago. I've been joking that the images that come out of the camera look better than the images in real life, and that I want to go around and film everything just so I can see it in high definition. I'm not entirely joking, either. I pumped up the color gain a bit and tweaked a few other options, and the images coming out of the camera are astonishing. I can't wait to get out and make some movies.

Huge thanks to everyone on this forum for swaying me to buy this camera (I was torn between this and the V1 -- while I'm sure the V1 is a great camera, the A1's images appealed more to me and I am not at all dissatisfied with my purchase). I also want to highly recommend ZGC based on my experience. The camera shipped in two days, as estimated, and I was treated very well all throughout my ordering experience. I called back up a few days after I placed my order and decided to get a bag, too, and I was given a good deal on the bag since I ordered the camera with them. Great company, great service.

Now back to playing with the beast.

Hey Byron,

Let us know how that 503 head works with the A1. Nice fit?!?! Smooth enough for 24f shooting?

Thanks,

Brian

I should have it by today, so this evening I'll give it a try and post a brief review!
