If it work with batteries is not a cable problem.
Did you go to the menu and activate the XLR input? Page 43 of the manual in the menu 1)Open the menu AUDIO SETUP 2) select XLR INPUT / ON on camera 3) plug the mic in the CH1 XLR - input channel switch to CH1 4) Line/Mic switch to MIC 5) set the 48v of CH1 to on now should work |

Hi Mike
Not sure if Manuel is trying to say the same as me.. but check that your cable is wired to power the mic... I had this problem when I first got my Z1... the short cheap curly wired xlr cable I was using only had two wires connected.. so the mic wouldn't work with out batteries. I then checked with a longer 5m balanced Neutrik cable and it worked fine.. may be your problem to. regards Gareth |

To add a bit of detail,
Connectors and cable wired Pin 1 -to- pin 1 Pin 2 -to- pin 2 Pin 3 -to- pin 3 Some cables may "lift" (open) the ground, and if the ground is lifted, phantom power will not work.
