xl2 red artifacting
i know this problem has been discussed before but i didn't see anyone suggest trying the colour smoothing 4:1:1 in final cut. i used to use the red channel blurring but the colour smoothing eliminates the problem with less blurrying.
try it, it's just what i've found to work better. it's under Key in the video filters. Cheers. Mitch |

this is the preset i found most beneficial for avoiding the artifacting problem. I still throw the colour smoothing 4:1:1 on in post to eliminate it completely. you can push your saturation in post rather than in camera and still get a really vibrant red this way without any artifiacting.
so here's the preset if anyone wants to try it. i found that if your colour matrix is on normal its a bit more saturated than cine also. gamma - cine knee - low black - press colour matrix - cine colour gain - (-3) colour phase - (-3) R gain - (-3) G gain - 0 B gain - 0 v detail - normal sharpness - (-6) coring - 0 setup level - 0 master pedel - 0 NR - off |
