XL2 PAL version, 25p shutter speed
Hi everybody, I've just purchased my XL2 (very happy!!)
my first tests have been about 25p and cinelook. The settings are very several and I think it's possible to reach many many color looks. But I have a question about shutter speed. When I shoot in 25p (also 50i) if I use 25th I have too much blur... I can use it only if I need a special effects... Instead if I use 50th the image is ok... And If I shoot a fast subject I increase up to 10000th... Why I read on this forum that with 25p I must use 25th to achieve a real cine look?... thanks everybody |

Welcome aboard DVInfo.net Michele!
Where did you read to use a 1/25th shutter speed? The general consensus usually goes like: 25p -> 1/50th 30p -> 1/60th 24p -> 1/48th So yes, it is best to start out with 1/50th and not 1/25th. However shutter speeds are there for a reason and come in handy to use less light (if you have a non or barely moving scene), add clarity or for certain type of effects. Learn what does which and see what works best in every situation FOR YOUR EYES! There is not one way to do these things, just starting points to venture out and discover new things. Good luck!
