Best Widescreen TV for editing XL2 footage at DVinfo.net

With all this talk about the camera being so great, you know, it can only look as good as the device its playing on can present it.

So I want to know, what would be the perfect TV to show your XL2 widescreen footage on.

Personaly, Im Looking for a widescreen TV to edit my XL2 footage on so I dont have to look at my 16:9 shots on a 4:3 monitor.

I think Im going to buy a 30' inch Sony HDTV to use next to my edit bay.

An HDTV I'm sure would look good, however, it probably would not look the best. For the best look, you want to have a pixel for piexel accurate TV for display, meaning a widescreen 480P televison. I think these are commonly defined now as EDTV's and are considerably cheaper than HDTV's, however, in the long run an EDTV may not be up to future standards of High Defenition television. But again, this would give you a pixel accurate display without any conversion taking place in the HDTV that could potentially degrade your viewed footage.

If you're shooting in 16:9 mode then monitor will need to stretch the 720 pixel wide image to 852 pixels, so there will always be some scaling taking place.

I edit 16:9 from my PDX-10 using a 22" Samsung HD LCD monitor (1280x720). The image seems to scale pretty nicely. The 30" Sony monitor will be pretty expensive. Go somewhere to compare the different screens side by side if possible. The 30" screens were out of my price range, but the smaller Sony LCD screens are not really in the 16:9 proportion and are 1280x768. Also be aware that all of these consumer monitors overscan.
