viewing footage on TV...
i just got a 50inch sony HD LCD television, and couldn't help but notice a
3:2 pull down feature... here's exactly what it says in the description... "CineMotion 3-2 pulldown for accurate reproduction of film-based sources" how do you think this applies to the 3:2 pull down from the footage i obtain with my XL2... i've been shooting 3:2:2:3 this entire time... anyone else have this feature on their TVs?? |

I haven't tried hooking my XL2 directly to an input of my Mitsubishi HDTV yet, so this is best-guess theoretical.
My understanding is that with the 3:2 pulldown TVs, the 2:3:3:2 signal won't be pulled down properly since the field cadence is different. So my guess is that your 2:3:3:2 footage won't look right on the TV, but you can edit the 2:3:3:2 in a 24p timeline, then export your footage as 2:3, either to tape or disc, and it should play fine on your 3:2 pulldown TV.

will the exported 2:3 footage work on normal tv's as well... or just ones with the 2:3 feature... i thought any thing you shoot can be viewed on a tv...
does shooting in 2:3 have any effect on the look of the image?? |
