Shooting XL2 with GL2

I have several questions regarding the use of the XL2 with the GL2 in a two camera shoot.

Will the quality difference be hugely noticeable in covering the same scene with both cameras?

Is there a compatible time code with both cameras?

Is the 24p of the XL2 in any way compatible with the GL2 Movie Frame Modes?

Many Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim,

<< Will the quality difference be hugely noticeable in covering the same scene with both cameras? >>

Not really -- you can easily dial the xL2 in to match the GL2.

<< Is there a compatible time code with both cameras? >>

Both offer DV time code. The XL2 has free-run, rec run pre-set and a few other options not available on the GL2. But the basic DV timecode is the same.

<< Is the 24p of the XL2 in any way compatible with the GL2 Movie Frame Modes? >>

No, but 30p is. The 30p mode on the XL2 will be a fairly close match for Frame Movie mode on the GL2. Hope this helps,

GL2 XL2

The 2 cameras syn beautifully together in my experience
Editing between the two, in 30P on the xl2 and actually normal mode on the GL2, I find very little difference in raw quality. Now, this is not to say the XL2 does not have some advantages that make it great, it does, but, as far as two camera shoots, they blend quite well
