Upconverting Standard Definition Media

Upconverting Standard definition media to high definition can be done by scaling the SD clip in the HD sequence (Using final Cut Pro).

For instance, to scale and pillarbox a 720 * 480 standard def clip into a 1280 * 720 high def sequence... scale the sd clip (in the scale parameters) to 150, then open the distort parameters and type in 12.5 in the aspect ratio number field...

don't know if that helps...

I'd imagine that by now most any mainstream NLE can export 720p. I routinely shoot 30p/16:9 with the XL2. It is simple to then export from a standard DV project in PPro as either WMV or MPEG as 720p30. Could do 720p60 (with each 30p frame being shown twice, of course) or 1080i as well, but I just happen not to have actually tried those.

Trial version are available for most NLEs.
