7.2 or 7.4 Volt batts.

Hi all I have just been looking for extra batteries for my XL2 and I have noticed that independent batteries are listed as 7.2 and 7.4 volts does the XL2 take both?............Many Thanks Pete.

Yes, and if you look at your mains charger you'll probably notice it gives 8.4 volts. The camera is pretty tolerant of voltage.

li-ion are 3.6V element. so you can stack them to get 7.2, 10.5, 14.4 etc...
unfortunately voltage vary if you consider nominal voltage or charging voltage.
so usually 7.2=8.4
10.5=11.2
14.4-16.x
etc...
some camera are finnicky about voltage but if cell count is ok, there is no risk you go too high.
lamps (bulbs) are sometime more finnicky and i burned many bulbs because i just turned the lamp on just after charging.

The terminal voltage output of a battery will vary somewhat depending on the charge state and load. If the battery is rated/listed for the camcorder and around 7.2 it should be OK.
