Real World Test

I’m thinking about buying a Sony DSR450 but I’m holding off because I’d like to see some reviews on the XL H1 from users who have used broadcast gear and can compare images on screen.

I know there has been a lot of comment about value etc but for me a professional lens is at least one third of the cost of my camera kit. I’m hoping that is what will set this package apart from the rest.

As far as the DSR 450 goes I was going to feed the sdi output into a Bonsai so I would do the same with the Canon to achieve 4.2.2

Has the XL H1 been released to the general public? I read somewhere they are available in Europe.

Hi Ian, and welcom to DVinfo!

The XL H1 hasn't been released yet. There are a few in the hands of developers, such as Cineform. Rumors have been floating around that we could be seeing the H1 "on the street" before this month is gone.

If you're in Europe, you can read the magazine mentioned in this thread for a preview: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=54271

And DVinfo member Kaku Ito has posted a number of clips from a pre-release version of the camera, as well as many insightful observations, in the "sticky" threads at the top of this forum.

Beyond that, we all all eagerly waiting!
