It's here! Now on sale in Japan.

I went down to Yodobashi Camera (link) today and was able to play around with the camera. It came out yesterday, Nov 23th.

Also took a quick photo of it.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the pic, I wonder whether it's been released anywhere else?

Will you be buying one Dial?

I was tempted to get it today using a loan payment method, but my wife doesn't support that idea. Before this year is up, I plan to get one.

However, I would like to see some cheaper options for HD-SDI capture, with desirable codec's first. (But I guess that's already being covered in other threads)

If I remember correctly, the rollout of the Canon XL H1 in Europe will start only in December. A dealer here in Berlin has told me, that he expects it around Chrismas. So, Martin, please let me know, when You get it.

Yodobashi Camera is not a good place to get stuff, they tend to be a little bit more pricey, I always get my stuff in Nipponbashi, just recently got an XL-2 from Kinki Video, I was going to get it at Ippinkan, my favorite store but they didn't sell the body only kit.

Good to see someone else here from the Big O. Yoroshiku!

I've been told XL H1 will be available in the beginning of December.

I ~scanned~ the XL H1 free paper from yesterday using my still camera and compressed the photos so everything is still readable. If you can read Japanese then enjoy this upload. If not, then please check it out anyway!

Does it say a consumption of only 7,8 Watt? Because in the white papers of my XL1 it says a consumption of 9,5 Watt.

It is true, the XL H1 is more efficient with power than any of the previous XL series camcorders.

Thanks again for those pictures, Dial!

I wonder if it comes with that cool looking "linked" camera support (inserted into grip, see photo). Must be some sort of steady-cam system. Thanks again Dial for the photos.
